this is the reason why games like rainbow six: siege, battlefield etc. I said unified, because otherwise it would split the community depending on store preference and I don't think big companies like EA, ubisoft, valve, activision etc. must use a big "unified" online network to track player stats, grant achievements, offer online services like matchmaking, microtransactions etc. online games like CoD, FIFA, battlefield, rainbow six siege, CS:GO etc. Originally posted by lewosch:I believe, at this point, it's easier said than done to ask big online multiplayer games like CoD franchise, not to lock their games to a single store.

as activision and blizzard are kind of siblings, being in same corporational structure it's likely that CoD games on steam may require a battlenet account and its launcher. even if one day CoD series return to steam, I suspect it would exclusively use steamworks features for online services, unlike good old days.

I'd rather buy such games from origin/uplay to play with a single DRM, rather than buying from steam to play with dual DRMs. but for me (personal opinion and I know there are many who are with me on this), it's just an additional layer of DRM. it's understandable to wish for it, for those who want a single big library of their entire games. still require origin/uplay accounts, even if they are bought from steam. I believe, at this point, it's easier said than done to ask big online multiplayer games like CoD franchise, not to lock their games to a single store.
